This future patch is especially for me as a miner extremely interesting and I think also very important.
I personally consider it very interesting and am curious about the fine-tuning of CCP.
Currently, the whole thing is very negatively received in the gaming community, but in the end it will prevail and I think the whole thing is also necessary.
Most see their laborious Rorqual fleets in danger, as they should go more in the direction of support and no longer be the main workhorse for mining.
A very sensible step, because that is what the ship is meant for and not as the best mining ship.
In my eyes, this also makes room for a dedicated capital mining ship.
The same is true for the Orca.
Let’s take a look at the whole thing once after the current status in peace.
I have once pulled out the most important points for me.
First of all, each skill will be removed from the game and reintroduced in a dedicated way. Until now, there was a separate skill for each type of ore. These are now summarized according to the “value” of the ores, i.e. Common, Uncommon, Rare, Superior, Abyssal and Mercoxit.
Depending on where I am now on the road, I do not need all skills but can combine them. So Common is especially the Highsec ores like Veldspar, Scordite Pyroxeres and Plagioclase.
The same applies of course to the Miningcrystals in use. This gradation almost everything together and offers in the same breath the possibility to introduce something that we know from all other of the ammunition but have not used so far in the context of MIning. Different designs each bringing different advantages and disadvantages.
Currently named as Type A – C.
According to the current status, type A behaves exactly like the previously known crystals. The variants B and C function differently here.
With type B we get a significantly higher result, but in return we have a very high waste factor and therefore less usable mass in the asteroid that we can use. Type C as a further example works in contrast to it more exactly and degrades here by naturally less, produces however also clearly less waste.
The same applies after current state on the test server also to new modules for compressing.
Also exists after current conditions different types of the module. Besides the Rorqual, the Orca can now also use a similar module. So also the little sister of the Rorqual has the possibility to compress ores and ice. The only difference is that after the patch, the Rorqual is now also able to compact monde ores. The same applies to the smallest industrial command ship, the Porpoise. So we can now stow much more in the holds than before.
Also the division into the single tiers like the crystals is now done. Of course the result of a compression by a Rorqual is much better than by the Orca or Porpoise or even by the station. What is the difference here?
The modules will no longer be passive but active. Means, these have a cycle time similar to other active modules and work so the loaded ores. The Rorqual needs longer than the Orca or Porpoise, but has less loss to complain about and is therefore more efficient.
I think this loss or waste factor is a new central object in mining. So far I had mentioned this one only briefly. But basically this makes EvE closer to reality for me, if you can sometimes speak of reality at all in EvE.
With each run of a Cycle we have a certain loss, i.e. we destroy by an improper mining from the asteroid appropriate ores which we can use. These are not deducted from the yield, this remains, but directly from the asteroid. Depending on the used crystal or mining equipment sometimes more or less. A similar loss has one accordingly when compressing the mined raw materials.
In other words, the asteroids now run out faster and disappear and as a player you get less out here compared to before.
To compensate for this, CCP has significantly increased the available amount of almost all raw material sources, even doubling them. Thus, in the sense about the same amount of raw materials are available depending on the mining method used.
Together with the Orca and Porpoise as a platform, it is certainly even more interesting.
As already mentioned above, the Rorqual and Orca in particular are to move away from being the ultimate mining platform to being a support platform. For the latter, there should now also be a corresponding Industrial Core available.
This hurts especially the Nullspace Rorqual pilots with their Rorqual fleets, but I think this can’t be the solution.
The Exhumers and Barge are for mining and the Command Ships are for support and help mining.
The rebuilt Industrial Core supports this again clearly.
Also these ships themselves experience a small modification which also concerns the bonus and the other values.
Here I would not go so deep into detail, because I think these changes do not have quite as much impact as the above listed partly new mechanics. As an example, the bonus of the Endurance in ice mining.
This is certainly not the last state and there will still be some changes. Also in view of the fact that many players are not very enthusiastic about the changes and are already running up a storm.
I think it will be somewhat mitigated and possibly still something rebuilt.
But on the whole, the path taken is very sensible.
I am definitely happy and welcome the changes.
