Finally, the dream of EvE in Excel is real

Welcome back from the half summer break, so or so similar I would probably be able to describe it best how it looks.

A lot has happened in EvE in the meantime:

  • T2 Dreadnoughts
  • Perimeter Trading Center is destroyed
  • No more big citadels in Highsec
  • EvE Anywhere has been switched off
  • Excel-AddIn is finally live

So basically a lot to experience in EvE, although I as a current Highsec player is rather quiet. Except that summer is still around the corner. So there are still some projects I’m currently leading and the most interesting thing in my eyes is to play EvE without playing EvE. Therefore, I am currently working quite intensively with the Excel AddIn.

I had already written some time ago about the AddIn and also that some functions were simply missing to me,
There were already very many data queried and to the missed belonged above all some points in the stream of the current market movements. Here the station was missing particularly at orders on citadels and led therefore to some errors and I needed in the background still a few auxiliary tables and thus developed nevertheless very large formulas which were simply not beautiful. An example of this you can see in the last post,

This has now been updated, so that I can now say very precisely to which station I want to have access and not only to the corresponding star system. This makes the whole thing much easier and with only two IF-conditions I have determined the lowest price for a product via the MIN-formula. So much nicer than before.

What I currently have to nibble is it to get this price to the appropriate quantity yet, that is currently not possible and returns the problem of not being able to have the market correctly in mind. What is the use of a favorable price in my calculation if I can buy only a fraction of the required components,

In between I also saw that the history of an item was available. But somehow I do not get it at present these to query. Possibly this was also taken out again to be able to reduce traffic. I think together with this information can create a good overview and evaluate how it is worthwhile to trade these items.

In sum, I primarily continue to pursue the possibility of building a production tool. That means in the first place something to calculate blueprints to be able to sort them quickly with these. Is it worthwhile or not the production at this point and how high is currently calculated profit. Market fluctuations of course first of all outside. It would be at least a progress and would simplify my life significantly. And somehow I would also like to build a corresponding inventory management there and so also fix prices and calculate to be able. These then again rum then against the current market price match. So rather a very detailed overview and probably very high wishful thinking. Here falls the keyword opportunity costs.

=WENNFEHLER(MIN(WENN(EVEONLINE.MARKET_ORDERS_STREAMING(10000002;B2.id).transaction_type=”sell”;WENN(EVEONLINE.MARKET_ORDERS_STREAMING(10000002;B2.id).location.id=60003760;EVEONLINE.MARKET_ORDERS_STREAMING(10000002;B2.id).price)));0)

The formulas for the tax I can currently calculate myself together and then also use. What I was missing in the alpha was the price for the production at the stations to consider this value as well. We all know that the construction price consists not only of material but also of fees. We all know it, because something was mined it is not free.

With all these thoughts I am currently on my playground and try to build something appropriate here or several tables. Luckily I use Office 365 at this point and can use the AddIn as well. Even the app on my Android smartphone loads the formulas flawlessly. The version via Office.com has a few problems, at least as far as the display of the AddIn is concerned, so I can’t start sample queries there. The formulas themselves also work flawlessly here and so at least on the Chromebook I can play a bit with EvE when CCP has already turned off the power to EvE Anywhere.

The latter I find relatively unfortunate, because I liked to use it once quickly log into the account and thus collect the login bonus. Or just to transport a ship from A to B. It was quite practical because who wouldn’t want to sit outside on the terrace and play EvE? EvE is the most beautiful Excel spreadsheet in the world, so now we play EvE in a real Excel spreadsheet.

Who has followed so far my posts on Twitter will be surprised soon, but I will no longer bring them on Twitter. The current policy I do not like and also is now the Tweetdeck about which I have planned these in the near future a part of Twitter blue and I just have to say you can me once. Therefore, sign up for the newsletter I then again separately set up or subscribe to the RSS feed.

  1. Hallo Sendriss,
