Winter Nexus – A play paradise

or also: Oh damn, another change of ship.
So or so similar it could also sound with you.

It’s Christmas time and CCP doesn’t let itself down and runs a nice event again. This year there is something for everyone. Are you mining, scanning or just want to push Sanshas out of the ship (or they you?).

Everyone is catered for and so variety is a given. Additionally there are a lot of other challenges. Just smear the station windows with icy fastballs or rather the dear NPC from next door.
A little game paradise and the question what do you like to do the most.

I like to play all three, as far as time allows.
Whereby I rather excluded the Miningsites, since Salvage is preferred here, something I don’t really need. They are only done when one of my 4 challenges gives me the default and I really don’t have the opportunity for anything else. The main focus though is scanning and making scrap.

I personally like the scanning option the best, an area I can get good practice in. It’s interesting, fun, and the “gifts” are pretty good too. So today I snuck a Nightmare Glacial skin. Unfortunately, the sites in the respective areas are very scarce and if you are not fast enough, you go empty.

But this is incentive enough to keep practicing and to become faster. I still have enough time for this.

The bigger thrill awaits me definitely in the Combat Anos. I’ve already done several iterations of fittings and write-offs on ships. The first thought from me was to just go with a BC. Harbinger, Absolution and a Prophecy I still had in the hangar. But somehow I didn’t like anything about these ships and the fitting. In the lively exchange in the #evede it became a Prophecy before the event.
When it should start then I already saw my problem. Recommended for Battleships with T2 fitting. My Prophecy doesn’t come close to that. So I thought about the next ship and remembered my old Tengu. Of course, my saved fittings were outdated and something had to be adapted. I was very pleased with the result. The Sanshas however also. Thanks to Webber, my half speed tank wasn’t really usable anymore and I was able to get out of the sites twice with only a few percent shields. Fortunately there were no scramblers here either.

So this was no solution either. So it was the turn of the next ship. Thanks to Barkkor it became a nice Damnation. Here I also went into new territory, because I haven’t flown a ship with a cap booster for a long time and also the optimal use of reppers, webbers and afterburners has to be practiced again. If you’re used to leaving these modules on permanently, it’s really quite unfamiliar and I need to trust my ship more here. Also my drones need more love from me, also here I am not really used to use them sensibly anymore.

But nevertheless I am very satisfied with the fitting. We’ll see what the next time brings and I would like to get much more out of the sites.
