#mt March: Corps in EvE – Only a Means to an End?

Even if it sounds strange, EvE Online is a multiplayer game and I don’t think you can really get into the game alone.
Therefore, similar to other online games, there is the possibility to join forces with other players.

In EvE these constructs are called Corporations or Corps in short form.
These are a central building block within EvE, especially for social interaction.
We do things together, learn and fight within a corp. The question is therefore basically whether the corps are only the means to an end to experience something in EvE or whether there is more behind it.

Of course every player has a different idea and I think without the social view to get along with the others personally it wouldn’t work in EvE.
Let’s take a look at the history of Sendriss.

If we leave out my own corp, there are basically only three different corps in my list: Ferox Aquila, German Kings and Killtronics.
Whereby the former is very clearly dominating. The middle one was a small intermezzo and the latter will be a longer story.

Basically I don’t think it’s a good idea to say that I’m in a corp for one purpose only. Then I can also basically play alone, which I also did for years.
In a corp you have to feel comfortable and get along with the people as well as represent common interests.

Ferox was my first corp in EvE and I still have a loose contact with several members who were there at that time.
Also that we had three meetings in real life testifies to the fact that everyone liked it and we felt very comfortable.
Also the chemistry must be right in a corp, otherwise you don’t have this feeling of well-being and therefore have less fun in the game.

Without these people you feel comfortable with, you are less motivated to do something in the game.
That was also my experience, which I soon had with the German Kings.

I then brought in between once a change of scenery.
I wanted to break out of what I was doing and experience something new. And so I decided to join the German Kings.
I also felt comfortable here and got along well with everyone, but it was more for me the purpose. I wanted to get into zero and then I looked for something accordingly.
The people were therefore not in the foreground as it was always the case with Ferox. And that was in the long run then also nothing for me and so I changed after relatively short time again back to my ancestral homeland.

With the time the interest in EvE faded away and the people with whom I was on the road disappeared from the game.
And so I decided afterwards that I could do the few on my own. This time I was very focused on the solo game and when I logged in I only did what I wanted to do.

So my own Corp Stealth Research Service was finally born.

The idea was also to unite all my chars here and also to bundle this as a label for my datacore activities.
I was free from all constraints and could do what I wanted.
I did this for a while or not at all, depending on how I felt like EvE.
I regularly flew my SoE Epic Arc and participated in the events. All relatively detached from other players.

Of course I was loosely networked with other players I had met so far, but I didn’t want to join a corp.
There was no time for that.

Until some time ago when I rediscovered EvE for myself and finally wanted to start again.
I was somehow bored with the miner and have therefore once actively gone on the search.

And with Killtronic I found what I was looking for.

A very laid back and relaxed nullsec corp that I have spent some time with now.
The also very much on a voluntary basis and gives you the freedom. In addition, there are also very pleasant people with whom you can talk well.
A very pleasant troop at this point. And so the purpose to experience something new was quite useful and it was again surpassed by the personal level.
That is also the people motivate you to do something. Even though I don’t have enough time to really do something actively with others, the social contact is more important to me here.

One has all options, so that also here similar as in Ferox a nice nest warmth exists with which one feels well.

As you can see from my background, I don’t just choose a corp based on what I want to experience, but also what kind of people are in a corp.
The purpose is a good motivator to look for something and to choose a corp, but this purpose does not take care if you are missing something.

If I pursue only one purpose, a corp is for me like any other, namely no home.
For me the corp has to be something where I feel comfortable. That means I get along great with the people, have my freedom and can always do something with others.
I don’t join a corp just for one purpose. Since I burn too much time with moves.

How do you see the whole thing? Are corps only a means to an end for you or does it have to be more?
Among all comments I will raffle some Scope Syndication Skins. This time from the Obelisk.
