Ishtar – The part-time love is put to the test

And the Minmatar Epic Arc continues to go in circles. I’ve reached the third mission and I’m expected to open an old archive and retrieve a certain object.
This archive is basically protected by two fleets, one a pirate fleet and the other a smaller armada of the Amarr Navy.

This means at least the short-term swap of the built-in Shield Hardeners to intercept incoming EM damage. The fleets themselves don’t seem to be a challenge for my little Ishtar.
We remember that I chose a pure drone armament here and did not use any secondary system. But in the meantime I switched from Amarr drones to the usual Gallente drones.

With this, however, I have chosen at least a more general damage, plus these drones also have a much higher damage output. In exchange for this, these drones are significantly slower.
So far equipped it goes off into the battle, whereby it against NPC I believe may not really be called battle.

As usual, I also first went to distance when jumping into the site and have also directly thrown out as usual the MTU.
So I circled around my MTU… and circled and circled… and waited for the opponent to do something.
The opponent probably waited for the same and we played the game of who did what first….

I had expected that I would be attacked directly as an intruder at a greater distance.
Then I have to become active, the distance was relatively large and there we already come to a weak point in my fitting.
My damned weakness to draw aggro without drones. So I throw out the drones and chase them to the next target.
My hope is that they all come back in one piece. But with the distance, I have serious doubts about this scenario.

So in this case it’s wait and see, and hope that the NPCs will turn me on directly as the enemy and leave my drones alone.
So I had to wait until the drones arrived and fired the first shot.
Unfortunately, exactly one drone also drew the concentrated fire of the enemies and became dust and scrap metal shortly before returning to my hangar.

As planned, the NPC concentrated fire on me accordingly and was able to use the drones again to decimate the enemy.
Shortly before the end, I aligned myself accordingly with the next station and directly withdrew the drones.
Finally I had to exchange my Hardener once briefly. So I quickly did it and went back to the site.

Once there, I had the same problem as above…. NPC did not want and I could not in the sense.
So again two possibilities remained open. This time I decided to fly to the enemy myself and make him aware of me.

This also worked and with a 180° turn I went straight back into the orbit of the MTU. My drones could then take care of the remaining ships in peace.
Thus this topic was eaten and I had learned something important. Somehow I have to get the NPC to attack me without me or my drones being in danger.

The variant was either I put a weapon in my highslot or I change the ship.

So Remote Armor Repairer out and a Dual 150mm Railgun II in and thus on a range of just under 72km with optimal and spike ammunition. We remember that I want to pull here for the time being only purely the aggro.

So off we go with the test, and when we test, we test right.
In the next mission, a real armada of Angel ships awaits us. I’m curious to see whether it will be better overall.

Of course I also have to think about alternatives.  As an alternative I see only a Golem with T2 fitting or a Rattlesnake.
Both ships have a high base value and would be a reasonable alternative also in view of the other Epic-Arcs.

I still have a Rattlesnake in the hangar. The Golem is not. Let’s see how the mission goes.

  1. Hallo Sendriss,
