Drones are also just expensive ammunition

And on we go with our adventures in the Epic Arc.
The last combat missions are waiting for us and I have to admit that these two missions pushed my tactics to the limit.

First of all the information that somehow my screenshots were not saved. Please don’t ask me why. Annoys me of course very much, because some nice ones were there.
Therefore I have tried to build in a few older ones. Thanks for the understanding at this point.

But one after the other. In both there is a simple variant how we can do these in each case fast. But then there is also no bounty and simple can finally everyone. And we are looking for the challenge. The basic goal was to get the Book of St. Arzad. Apparently an old book of the Minmatar.
We received a tip that we need to place a data core in a special container and thus obtain this book.
The paranoia basically prescribes entering the area with 100 km distance.

The whole thing gave me a slightly longer approach that I could have saved. So with ignited afterburner off to the place of delivery and hardly I have deposited the data core already an opponent appears and takes this with. I will surely see Kartoni Rand again, because that is the name of the NPC. If it was only a short appearance, he would have surely received a generic name.

After his jump into the warp, his friends showed up as well. Lots of frigates and a few battleships. The latter were to be boring, as expected. The former were going to be a problem. Did I mention that I, that the mission could be done quickly in that I could simply leave the area or just hand over the mission. And of course I didn’t do that, I mentioned that as well.

So of course the enemies were very close and with the afterburner I tried to gain distance. And again a plan that doesn’t work, because the little ones were busy using their Webbers and Scramblers. So somehow some speed is missing and my drones do their best to reduce these opponents quickly and effectively. This succeeded basically also well, only the opposing frigates liked my drones and so they switched themselves also times on the one or other drone. Here too, the Webber was quickly deployed and thus the drone’s downfall was sealed. As fast as the drones are, they can’t take much damage, and if a webifier is also involved, it’s pretty fast.

But this also passed and I could devote myself to the big ships. It was annoying and I just felt like I had no chance to save the drones. But still, the mission had to go on and we had to finish off Kartoni Rand. After all, he has something we want.

So we take the last combat mission and now it gets really the round. Personally, I wait by far the most difficult mission.
When I have looked at the mission before once briefly the goal was clear. The neutralizer in the form of a tower with 150 km reaches should turn out to be the biggest nuisance. But first off into the combat area. Again artig on 100km purely and I determine, I have unfortunately only 120 km distance, who can calculate sees that it is 30 km too little. So ignite afterburner and give heel money. But of course you should pay attention to the direction, otherwise it will not be more.  And in the long run also 100 GJ hurt, because finally I live from the speed of my afterburner. And so it happened that for reasons totally unknown to me, my energy storage was empty and I could only jump to the next station. In addition, the maneuverability with the speed naturally leaves something to be desired.

Of course, I have already dropped the MTU and saved the coordination. So the natural plan was to jump this to 100 km. But somehow I came to the same place as at the normal location…. I was irritated, the my expectation was another. So out again and the same game again and again the same result.

And shall I say, with capsule and corvette I tried it again and the result was somehow always the same.
What says and this? We’ll try it again. But this time we align properly and give speed and this time we successfully escaped the tower and I was able to switch to the usual tactics. Kartoni Rand used his MWD in between but still kept the distance well. Of course the frigates found fun with my drones when I was at distance and they came closer. Luckily this time no webifiers grabbed and I was able to pull my drones back in time. So that worked out well and in the middle of the battle what no one wants to happen happened. Your own computer freezes and has to be restarted. Luckily my Chromebook was right next to me so I was able to log in there quickly. In terms of content, I’ve already said goodbye to the five Warrior drones.

At least I was able to save my ship now, and I felt that my drones were in trouble. When the ship was safe again, I could re-log in peace and have already mentally written off the drones. And now I had a good idea. I pulled the enemies away from the starting point. Theoretically, they should now have built up enough distance. So in to 0 km and it actually worked. I built up enough distance and could start my drones again and thus attack and destroy the tower. The biggest nuisance was eliminated. And what was even more curious, I felt I had the same number of drones as before. So either when the computer crashed they automatically returned or this was my last command. I was happy at least as far as that was concerned.

But also frigates were missing. So something was not quite clean. Well, I got my drones back and it was back to the usual tactics of small to large through the enemy ships. And this felt without losing a single drone.

Finally it was our friend from above’s turn and he went down in a nice explosion. Then it was time to run. Due to my MTU, in this case the majority, the required container with the book was already on its way. Several MTU, because I had that feeling the opponents very far apart pulled. I was satisfied in total.

So effectively the last combat mission was also through and I had to decide in the end only for the reward. Either I give a Minmatar tribe or the Gallente the book for protection. This had an effect on the final reward.

I decided to give the Gallente the book. And this took 12.5% standing (10% base plus 0.5 per level in socialskill) plus another 25 million ISK. In total I collected about 200 million ISK and just under 100 – 120 million in loot. A good result.

Now it’s time to choose the next Arc. You can choose between Amarr, Caldari or Gallente. Do you have a wish?

  1. Hallo Sendriss,
