Chromebook and EvE Anywhere.. EvE on the couch :)

At least that’s my plan, but first from the beginning. By chance, I came across a cashback promotion for Chromebooks.
I use the Chrome browser myself and my previous smartphones were always equipped with the Android operating system.

Since I have often played with the idea of getting a small, flexible notebook, I took the opportunity to look at a few devices.
I stumbled upon the Flexbook 14″ C443TA from ASUS. Basically, it’s a fine little convertible at a reasonable price and with a usable configuration. And then there’s the cashback in general.
The Chromebook should primarily serve as a supplement to my normal computer, as well as for the couch.

As a convertible, the use as a tablet was also very practical thanks to the touchscreen. All in all, XCloud and EvE Anywhere were my goal, but also the editing of Excel spreadsheets. I can now also take a closer look at EvE Echoes.
In combination with my normal computer, I can also display additional information here.

That means writing suitable entries for the blog, adapting and extending Excel tables or looking at other information. An advantage to let EvE run in fullscreen all the time. Sounds like a cool idea at first.

So we started EvE Anywhere and I have to admit, it works surprisingly well with Full HD resolution.
The touchpad control doesn’t make it any worse. At least for the moment, I was thrilled.

Since I was near Jita anyway, I tried out how the whole thing works and here I have to say that the performance basically did not collapse and everything could still be played smoothly.

The only drawback in this mode is that I still can’t get the right click to work properly. I’ll either have to practice or switch to notebook mode for a while. Also, no virtual keyboard appears when typing in trading, so I don’t get much further in tablet mode, because I can’t write very well without a keyboard.
The basic flying in this mode I find okay and I can also well imagine this mode for autopilot flights to use while sitting on the couch. So it is a very useful addition in my eyes.
Apart from that, scrollbars and zooming in and out of windows cause me some problems. Also for this I have to leave the tablet mode accordingly.

Maybe I still have to find a suitable PEN here. Whereby the support for this device I think will be relatively low.

Generally, I would at least want to try missions and the like, but not as a tablet, for which the controls are still a bit imprecise accordingly, but works very well in normal mode.

In any case, my first impression is very positive with a few shortcomings. It is very noticeable that EvE does not rely on touch controls.
I think you can also enjoy EvE very much this way, you just have to flip it from time to time.

Oh, and I also optimized my Tengu a bit. Who has ideas always here with it.

  1. Hallo Sendriss,

  2. Hi Sendriss,
